Digestive Disease Consultants is a growing gastroenterology practice serving patients in Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, and Oviedo. We are seeking a polished, service-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our front office team.
 
This role is ideal for an experienced medical front office professional who takes pride in delivering exceptional patient experiences, thrives in a collaborative team environment, and is comfortable balancing hospitality with operational excellence.
 
Our Patient Access Specialists serve as the first impression of the practice and play a critical role in patient satisfaction, scheduling efficiency, insurance verification, and front-end revenue cycle performance.
 
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of medical front office, patient access, or medical reception experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and patient communication skills required.
  • Experience with insurance verification, benefit review, and patient financial collections preferred.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working in a high-accountability, team-oriented environment.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, the ability to remain composed under pressure, and de-escalation skills during challenging patient interactions.
  • Willingness to cross-train and assist in multiple front office functions, including phones and scheduling.
  • Must be flexible to float between Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, and Oviedo locations as needed.
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks (ECW) and/or Phreesia preferred.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Outlook, and general office software required.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome patients warmly and professionally while creating an outstanding check-in experience.
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
  • Review insurance eligibility and collaborate with billing team to support accurate patient financial estimates.
  • Collect copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and other patient balances professionally and confidently.
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Float to phone operations as needed to support scheduling and inbound call management.
  • Route patient inquiries and messages appropriately to clinical or administrative staff.
  • Scan and upload documentation into the EMR accurately.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and professional front office environment.
  • Assist with administrative support tasks, faxes, and workflow management as assigned.
